Three of my author interviews featured on The Horror Tree

In the past month, I’ve had three of my author interviews appear on The Horror Tree, which is one of the best sites for speculative fiction writers on the Interweb. Writer’s Digest agrees and has regularly featured The Horror Tree as one of the top genre websites.

I’m always excited when The Horror Tree accepts an interview, a short story, or a drabble I write. Started in 2011, The Horror Tree is run by editor-in-chief Stuart Conover who has created a minor miracle of an online resource for independent writers like me. Thank you, Stuart!

When I interview authors, they know The Horror Tree’s reputation and are pumped about the opportunity to be featured there. The Horror Tree is such a welcoming community whose staff volunteers their time to support writers. Stuart and his team are always responsive to any author interviews I send their way. They simply want to help boost the signal for spec writers – and they require nothing in return.

My three Horror Tree interviews posted in 2024 so far are with Andrew Najberg, Helen Power, and Cassondra Windwalker. All three were responsive to the interview requests and provided thoughtful answers to all the questions.

Here are the links for the three interviews. I hope you support the authors, and while you’re there, explore The Horror Tree and consider supporting its mission as well.

Andrew Najberg interview

Helen Power interview

Cassondra Windwalker interview

The first two authors, Najberg and Power, I discovered while compiling my monthly MalevolentDark.com Horror Fiction Top 25. Najberg’s novel Gollitok was No. 3 on my December Top 25 Chart, and Power’s novel Phantom was No. 9 on my November Top 25 Chart. The books are quite different from each other, but the storytelling is superb.

The third author, Windwalker, I interviewed after receiving an email turning me on to her modern gothic novel What Hides in the Cupboards. SPOILER ALERT: The book is high on the next MalevolentDark.com Horror Fiction Top 25 Chart, which is slated for release this month.

Gothic fiction is not a genre I choose to read regularly. However, I’ve always been pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy it when I do read it, particularly the works of Stephanie Ellis and Alyson Faye. So, I don’t mind stepping away from stories about Sasquatch or inbred hillbillies to check out more literary fiction.

Windwalker’s What Hides in the Cupboards was a stellar read. I intended to post the interview on my website, but I thought the novel deserved a bigger audience, so I turned to The Horror Tree. Stuart and his team were so supportive as always. You can read my review of What Hides in the Cupboards HERE.
