Cryptid Quarterly IV (2024): Top 10 List of Cryptid Horror Fiction

My fourth and final cryptid horror fiction chart of 2024 features the Top 10 plus 18 more honorable mentions. Luka T. Jacobs tops the list with the first book of her new series, but other familiar names in the subgenre make the chart again.

Some highlights? After a No. 7 showing on the previous list, Dan Durkee returns at No. 2 this time around. Jeffrey B Miley reached all four quarterly charts in 2024 but finishes with his highest ranking at No. 3 on this one. Eric S. Brown is the other author who hit all four lists in 2024.

So, without further ado, here’s my Top 10 cryptid horror fiction releases from October 1 through December 31, 2024, along with a list of honorable mentions worth checking out. Clicking on the book titles takes you to their Amazon pages where they can be purchased.

#1. Savage Rogue by Luka T. Jacobs

Savage Rogue is a new series featuring Special Agent Nicole Beretti, a fan favorite from the Night of the Dogman series. In Savage Rogue, Beretti and her partner respond to a request from the chief deputy of a remote town in Enrick, Wyoming, to help investigate a series of brutal, animal-like killings.

#2. Survive by Dan Durkee

A firefighter and his crew are dispatched to a wildfire near the Canadian border in Washington state. However, a tragic accident on an old logging road leaves the crew members fending for themselves in the unforgiving wilderness while something sinister hunts them down one by one.

#3. Sasquatch 48: The Cabin by Jeffrey B Miley

A man purchases a cabin, hoping to restore it to its original glory. However, the previous three owners disappeared. The locals believe the cabin is cursed and attribute the disappearances to two possible scenarios: bear attacks or the Salish Wild Man.

A sheriff, his deputy, and a wildlife conservation officer investigate a conspiracy involving a powerful businessman’s deal to use dangerous hybrid animals to scare farmers and ranchers off their land.

A collection of 10 tales about vampires, Icelandic cryptids, and human monsters. The title story follows a search and rescue operation during a blizzard in Iceland that quickly turns to terror when the team encounters more than just lost tourists.
