Thirty-two works of dark fiction in six categories are nominated for the 2024 Shirley Jackson Awards, according to an announcement by ShirleyJacksonAwards.org.
Presentation of the awards is scheduled July 19 at 8 p.m. during Readercon 34 at the Boston Marriott Burlington in Burlington, Mass.
Honoring the legacy of author Shirley Jackson, this year’s awards recognize the best work published during 2024 in the literature of psychological suspense, horror, and the dark fantastic. The categories are Novel, Novella, Novelette, Short Fiction, Single-Author Collection, and Edited Anthology.
Jackson, who died in 1965, is the author of classic novels The Haunting of Hill House and We Have Always Lived in the Castle and the chilling short story “The Lottery.”
