Voting for This Is Horror Awards 2024 is open until May 8 at 12:01 a.m. British Summer Time, according to thisishorror.co.uk. The five categories are Novel, Novella, Short Story Collection, Fiction Podcast, and Nonfiction Podcast.
Each category features five nominees for works published in 2024. Anyone can send their votes to awards@thisishorror.co.uk with the subject line “Awards 2024.” Write the category and include a first choice and a second choice for each one. The second choice is used in case of a first-place tie.
The top category for Novel of the Year features some of the most popular authors in the genre.
Leading the pack is Josh Malerman and his haunting novel Incidents Around the House. Malerman is the only previous This Is Horror winner among this year’s Novel of the Year nominees with Bird Box winning in 2014. Incidents Around the House is also nominated for the Bram Stoker Award.
Up next is CJ Leede earning her first This Is Horror nomination with the apocalyptic novel American Rapture. Leede’s 2023 debut Maeve Fly was nominated for a Bram Stoker Award and won a Splatterpunk Award.
Ronald Malfi makes the final This Is Horror ballot with Small Town Horror. Malfi’s novel Floating Staircase was a 2011 Bram Stoker Award nominee.
Adam Nevill seeks his first win in the category with his alien horror novel All the Fiends of Hell. Nevill’s Lost Girl finished runner-up in This Is Horror Awards 2015. His 2012 novel The Ritual and his 2015 novel No One Gets Out Alive were adapted into feature films.
