I appreciate awards lists like this one because they typically introduce me as a reader to new fiction to add to my ever-growing to-be-read pile. As a writer, I get to see the names of publishers, editors, and podcasts that garner the respect and admiration of the horror community.

The Novel of the Year is I WISH I WAS LIKE YOU by S.P. Miskowski. This one is already on my to-be-read pile because it was also nominated for the Bram Stoker Award. With one of the best opening lines I’ve read, I WISH I WAS LIKE YOU is about a woman trying to solve her own murder.

The runner-up novel, IN THE VALLEY OF THE SUN by Andy Davidson, is another interesting horror find set in dusty West Texas. This one is again already on my to-be-read pile because it was nominated for a Bram Stoker Award in the First Novel category. Reading the prologue, I was immediately struck by the immense talent of the author Davidson. Beautifully dark and descriptive.

Anyway, here’s the list of winners and runners-up in the eight categories. I linked the titles to either their Amazon page or their websites.

NOVEL OF THE YEAR

NOVELLA OF THE YEAR

SHORT STORY COLLECTION OF THE YEAR

ANTHOLOGY OF THE YEAR

FICTION MAGAZINE OF THE YEAR

PUBLISHER OF THE YEAR

FICTION PODCAST OF THE YEAR

Congratulations to all the winners and runners-up.
