The Devil Takes You Home by Gabino Iglesias and Where I End by Sophie White tied for the night’s top prize in the Novel category at the 2022 Shirley Jackson Awards held July 15 at Readercon 32 in Quincy, Massachusetts.

For Iglesias, the honor continues a remarkable year for The Devil Takes You Home. In June, his book also won the Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a Novel.

Here’s the list of the other winners at the 2022 Shirley Jackson Awards:

NOVELLA: The Bone Lantern by Angela Slatter.

NOVELETTE: What the Dead Know by Nghi Vo.

SHORT FICTION: “Pre-Simulation Consultation XF007867” by Kim Fu.

SINGLE-AUTHOR COLLECTION: We Are Here to Hurt Each Other by Paula D. Ashe.

EDITED ANTHOLOGY: The Hideous Book of Hidden Horrors, edited by Doug Murano.

The Shirley Jackson Awards are named after the American author who wrote “The Lottery” and The Haunting of Hill House. The awards recognize outstanding achievement in the literature of psychological suspense, horror, and the dark fantastic.

Jeff VanderMeer and Ann VanderMeer hosted the awards ceremony. Jeff VanderMeer previously won the Novel category for his book Annihilation at the 2014 Shirley Jackson Awards.
